Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist
Myria Weems is a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist with 24 years of clinical experience. She received her Master of Science in Communicative Disorders from East Tennessee State University in 1998. She is a board certified member of the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association (ASHA). She has worked with patients ranging from Newborns to the Elderly population. She began her clinical career in a nursing facility Alzheimer's Unit specializing in feeding issues in VA. She went on to discover a love for pediatrics and developed a pediatric program in SW VA. She served in Early Intervention and home visits for six years then transferred to TN and served the pediatric population in a home health setting. Additionally, she has served 17 years in the outpatient clinical setting. She has experience in evaluation and treatment across a wide array of diagnosis including Developmental Delay, Autism, Motor-Speech Impairments, Articulation Impairments, Phonological Processing Disorders, Hearing Impairment, Augmentative and Alternative Communication, (AAC), Dysphagia, Oral Motor Dysfunction, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cognitive Communication Impairment, Receptive and Expressive Language Impairments, Sensory Integration Disorders, Auditory Processing Disorders, and Behavioral Disorders.
