Occupational Therapy at Mini Miracles is AWESOME!  We have 10 full time therapists and 9 COTAs.  We strive 10to be a truly evidence-based practice and hold continuing education in high regard.  Our OT program is under the direction of a Sensory Integration Certified and Pediatric Board Certified therapist.  Our therapists are very experienced and have years of training in the field of pediatrics. We treat children with a variety of diagnoses, ranging from Autism, ADHD, SPD, Down Syndrome, CP, Trauma, Abuse, TBI, Spina Bifida, Congenital Orthopedic diagnoses, Brachial Plexus Injuries, Dyspraxia, Visual Perceptual/Motor Difficulties, Feeding Difficulties, Cleft Lip/Palate, Developmental Delay, Prematurity, Genetic Syndromes, and Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, as well as many others.  We use a holistic approach to therapy using therapeutic activities/techniques using Sensory Integration Theory, Infant Driven Feeding Theory, Mealtime Strategies, Neuro-Developmental Treatment, Alert Self-Regulation Techniques, Handwriting without Tears, Visual Perceptual/Motor Techniques, Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (forced-use), Kinesiotaping, DIR Floortime, Social Skills Training, and Independent Living Skills Training.  We use an episodic care model that has proven to have better generalization of skills to the “real” world.  We shift kids from 1:1 therapy to master skills, to intensive group therapy to practice them in a more realistic setting, and then to our “Imagine Groups” for a very real social setting.  This process keeps the child from getting too ritualistic and only completing skills with their therapist in a certain therapy room. They will, instead, use their new skills in all settings regardless of whether their therapist is present.   We treat children from 0-18 in a variety of settings, those being home, pre-school, elementary through high school, in the community, and at the outpatient clinic.  We serve Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia through Early Intervention Services, School System contracts, and Outpatient Services.
